Y-LEAD 2008

Bluffton University will host Y-LEAD (Youth Leadership Education and Development) 2008, Sept 12-14. This conference is designed to educate, empower and enable youth to explore and develop their leadership abilities for use in their schools, churches and communities.

The theme for Y-LEAD 2008 is “Leading in God's Strength.” Students will participate in worship, small group interaction, a variety of activities and fellowship. They will use the Strength Finder assessment to reveal their top five strengths and then find out how they can actively use their strengths.

Stephen “Tig” Intagliata, Bluffton University campus pastor, will be the keynote speaker. He will explore biblical leaders and their strengths. Prior to coming to Bluffton in fall 2006, Intagliata served as associate pastor of Trinity Mennonite Church in Glendale, Ariz. At Bluffton, he supervises students in the Ministry Inquiry Program, which places students with pastoral mentors. Providing guidance and support for young adults is a thread that runs throughout Intagliata's service. "I enjoy helping young people discover and develop their gifts in ministry," said Intagliata.

Cost of the conference is $50 when registering by Aug. 22. Cost is $75 through Sept. 5. Students will check in on the evening of Sept. 12. Check in is also available on Saturday morning. Students wishing to check in on Saturday should include an explanation for late arrival times on the registration form. Special instructions concerning registration will be sent to them.

Y-LEAD is sponsored by Mennonite Church USA . The planning committee includes representatives from Bluffton University and Central Christian School and is co-chaired by Henry Beun, head administrator of Central Christian School and Joyce Schumacher, Bluffton University alumni events coordinator.
